Legal Specialist At Aramco

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Advises on legal aspects of the company’s domestic/international business transactions, including a wide variety of commercial contracts (with input from business/technical partners), supplier contracts, product sales, leases, licensing agreements, lucrative projects, and EPC contracts, and corporate transactions.

– Advises on legal aspects of the company’s financing, including assessing and advising on current and future business structures and legal entities.

– Oversees all litigation and pre-litigation-related matters, leads and manages dispute avoidance and resolution, all legal proceedings, arbitrations/mediations, and negotiations of any other legal disputes, devises strategy for claims, and approves settlements of disputes where warranted; properly advising proponents regarding such matters.

– Participates in the definition and development of corporate policies and procedures and provides advice on legal matters and on legal implications of all corporate governance, business strategy, and compliance matters under the relevant jurisdiction (English and Saudi law).

– Actively participates in developing company contract templates, handles regulatory issues such as employment/labour law issues, and monitors all aspects of procurement law.

– Anticipates and identifies legal issues of concern to senior management, estimates risks strategically, identifies and develops legal strategies and proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks and maximize legal rights; provides expert advice for strategic planning and execution purposes.

– Actively contributes to the review, amendment, negotiation, and drafting activities of all contracts, agreements, and regulatory-related documents.

– Ensures that the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

– Sits and/or contributes to a number of the company’s committees as required.

– Supporting the Head of Legal as appropriate.

– Bases decision-making process on ethics and integrity.

– Deals with external parties (regulators, external counsel, clients/customers/contractors).

– A broad legal skill set ideally covering commercial, procurement, corporate, finance, projects, corporate governance, and compliance.

– Decision-maker with a solutions-focused approach and the commercial awareness and ability to evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action.

– Superior advocacy and communication skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in writing and orally, an aptitude for practical and effective negotiation, the capability to think clearly and quickly under pressure, the composure to satisfy multiple and often competing interests, and ability to collaborate and share lessons learned with teammates.

– A work history that demonstrates leadership, the ability to work in a fast-paced complex international environment and persuade and drive others to deliver on commitments.

– Highly-motivated, proactive legal/business advisor and concise verbal communicator who is adaptable, and possesses a hard-working positive attitude.

– Experience with shareholder relations and the ability to safeguard the interests of multiple stakeholders.

– Strategic thinker with a high level of attention to detail.

Education Background:

Bachelor’s Degree in Law.

Level of Experience:

At least 5 years of strong international standard law firm experience and/or in-house experience ideally in the petrochemical and/or oil and gas industries.
