As a Tax Support Team Consultant, you’ll be a key member of our newly established Tax Engagement Support (TES) team based in Jordan. The TES team will support a wide range of activities for the Tax service line, making this a great place to gain exposure to new skills and progress your career.

The opportunity

As the Team Leader (TL) of the Tax Engagement Support team, you will look to drive the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the support team in delivering its services to the business. You will engage with multiple key stakeholders across the different functions to form a holistic view.

Ensuring the delivery of services at the highest standards, pursuing opportunities to improve processes, and developing the team for continued success.

Your Key Responsibilities

The TESTL provides leads a team focused on database and engagement support to the business operations, ensuring quality service and output is consistently provided.

You will act as the central point of contact for database & engagement support; collaborating closely with Tax Quality (TQ), Market Finance Team (MFT), Mercury Business Advisors (MBA) and will report to MENA Tax Operations.

You will oversee and manage a team of associates/senior associates, promoting a collaborative teaming environment and ensuring efficient support to the business is provided at all times

Skills And Attributes For Success

  • Manage stakeholder expectations, delivery plans and communications, and provide status updates as needed to continuously advance service delivery
  • Ability to interact well with people at all levels within the firm and demonstrate proven ability to build strong relationships
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical and commercial skills. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Gain a strong knowledge of the service line and the engagement, EY’s structure, key personnel and EY’s policies/procedures
  • Coordinate risk management processes, such as engagement letters, client continuance, independence, family tree, preapproval and other regulatory requirements

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Approximately five (5) years’ experience in a client driven professional environment
  • Experience leading a team in delivery high volumes of tasks/activities within standard turnaround times
  • Time and project management skills – able to plan and manage time effectively and flexibly to deal with key priorities
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Advanced MS Office knowledge with a particular interest in producing high level data using MS Excel
  • Able to work with minimal guidance, operating across multiple projects and priorities.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A Good understanding of a professional services business, ideally having worked in this environment already
  • Knowledge of how to obtain data from numerous systems, combined with the ability to analyse the data efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience reporting on metrics in large volume activity teams i.e. TAT, SLA, QC
